Toledo Receives NABC Team Academic Award for Sixth Straight Year

Rockets lead MAC with nine NABC Team Academic honors in 12 years of award's existence
TOLEDO, Ohio – The University of Toledo men's basketball program has received the National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) Team Academic Excellence Award for a sixth-straight season, the association announced on Monday. The award is in its 12th year of existence, and the Rockets have received the award nine times.
Toledo's nine NABC Team Academic Excellence Awards lead all Mid-American Conference schools. Western Michigan ranks second with six awards, with Central Michigan receiving the award on three occasions. Ohio has been honored twice, while Bowling Green, Eastern Michigan, Kent State, and Miami have been recognized once.
The Team Academic Excellence Award recognizes NCAA and NAIA men's basketball teams that earned a cumulative Grade Point Average of 3.0 or better throughout the 2023-24 academic year.
The Rockets also placed four individuals on the NABC's Honors Court: Andre Lorentsson (3.314), Dante Maddox Jr. (3.406), Marko Maletic (3.250) and Ben Wight (3.555). Only juniors, seniors, and graduate students with a cumulative GPA of 3.2 or higher are eligible for the Honors Court.
