TOLEDO, Ohio - Head coach
Jason Oliver announced on Tuesday the additions of Ella Abraham (Matthews, N.C.) and Maija Eglitis (Columbus, Ohio) to the Toledo women's volleyball program.
Â
Abraham joins the Rockets after playing the last four seasons at Furman University, while Eglitis comes to UT following a standout prep career at Bishop Watterson.
Â
Below is a look at the two newest members of the Toledo women's volleyball program:
Â
Ella Abraham | 5-8 | Setter | Matthews, N.C. | Furman Univ.
Â
Abraham started 17 of 22 matches she played at Furman last year, averaging a career-high 8.18 assists, 2.12 digs and 0.25 service aces per set. She collected a career-high 50 assists along with 10 digs vs. an undefeated Citadel squad (Oct. 13) and is a three-time member of the Southern Conference's All-Academic Team. Abraham was also named the Southern Conference's Setter of the Week last season after leading the Paladins to a home-and-home sweep of UNC Asheville.
Â
Jason Oliver on Ella Abraham: "The transfer portal can be tricky for coaches and team chemistry, but in the case of adding Ella it was amazing. She possesses a level of maturity and a leadership ability that is not often seen in players. I am looking forward to Ella integrating into our program and really making an impact on and off the floor."

Maija Eglitis | 5-10 | Setter | Columbus, Ohio | Bishop Watterson High School
Eglitis helped Bishop Watterson to a 60-23 win-loss mark during her three-year career. She finished her career ranked second on the Eagles' all-time career assists list with 1,400. She earned Honorable-Mention All-Central District honors from The Columbus Dispatch as a senior and helped the Eagles to an OHSAA Division I state semifinal appearance as a junior.
Â
Jason Oliver on Maija Eglitis: "Maija is a special recruit for me. She is a great player and has a great understanding of the game. I think she got that from her father who is my former teammate. That makes it easy to see how she will fit our program. I really am excited to see her growth over the next season. She will add so much to our culture of winning, and I know she will help us win a championship."
