TOLEDO, Ohio – The Toledo women's tennis team's Cassie Alcala, Julia Kuszynski, Shalini Tallamraju, and Sloane Teske each earned a spot on the College Sports Communicators (CSC) 2023-24 Academic All-District Women's Tennis Team, the organization announced on Tuesday.

This is the second year Alcala, Kuszynski, and Tallamraju have earned a spot on the Academic All-District Team and a first for Teske. All four Rockets recently earned Academic All-MAC recognition for their athletic and academic accomplishments during the 2023-24 season.

A three-time MAC Player of the Year, Alcala graduated earlier this month with a degree in human resource management. A Pickerington, Ohio native, Alcala took over as Toledo's all-time win leader with 100 career singles wins from the top court, and 177 combined singles and doubles victories in her four years in the Midnight Blue and Gold. Alcala's milestone victory was the clincher in the 4-1 decision over Miami for the 2024 Mid-American Conference Tournament crown on April 27 which punched Toledo's ticket into the NCAA Division I Women's Tennis Championships.

Kuszynski graduated with a 4.00 GPA in exercise science earlier this month. Originally from Markham, Ont., Kuszynski clinched match point seven times this season, most recently against Eastern Michigan in the semifinal match of the 2024 MAC Championship. Kuszynski was named to the MAC Doubles Team of the Week on April 23 with Alcala and was recently selected to the Academic All-MC team for the third consecutive year.

Tallamraju is also a recent Toledo graduate, earning a bachelor's degree in biology. The Munster, Ind. native has now earned two Academic All-District and three Academic All-MAC honors in her four-year career with the Rockets. In singles competition this spring, she went 15-7 with a 9-1 league record, mostly from the No. 4 court.

After five years in the Rockets' uniform, Teske earned a degree in adolescent and young adult education. A four-time All-MAC selection from Grand Rapids, Mich., Teske defeated Michigan State's Issey Purser (Feb. 9) in her first match after missing a majority of the fall season due to injury. She also went undefeated at the No. 2 singles and No. 2 doubles courts at the 2024 MAC Championship Tournament.

The 2023-24 Academic All-District Women's Tennis Team recognizes the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performance on the court and in the classroom. The CSC Academic All-America program separately recognizes nominees in four divisions – NCAA Division I, Division II, NCAA Division III, and NAIA.

All four Rockets advance to the Academic All-America ballot. First-, second-, and third-team Academic All-America honorees will be announced on June 4.
