Two Meets to Test Rockets This Weekend

Toledo splits squad for meets at Wake Forest and Ohio State
TOLEDO, Ohio – Toledo women's track & field will split its team across two separate meets this weekend, as the Rockets continue their build-up to the MAC Championship with competition at the Wake Forest Invitational in Winston-Salem, N.C. on Friday, April 19 and the Jesse Owens Track Classic in Columbus, Ohio on Friday-Saturday, April 19-20.

Toledo's distance runners will compete at Wake Forest and the sprinters will head to Ohio State's Jesse Owens Track Classic.

Toledo is coming off strong performances in the Tiffin Track Carnival and the Bucknell Bison Outdoor Classic last weekend. At the Outdoor Classic, Laura Nicholson completed the 800m in 2:08.00 and the 1500m in 4:17.63, which rank as the second and third-best times in program history, respectively, and also rank as the top times in the Mid-American Conference this season. Her performances earned her MAC Athlete of the Week. In Tiffin, Toledo got its best time 100m time of the season from Khamani Jones, who set a personal record at 12.18.

Toledo ranks 14th in the USTFCCCA rankings for the 1500m, averaging a time of 4:20.34 in Tuesday's rankings. Nicholson (4:17.63), Lou Trois (4:18.45), Vilde Henriksen (4:18.75) and Krystal Clark (4:24.77) all rank top-10 in program history for fastest times.

Additionally, Toledo's 5000m team ranks 26th in the country and tops the MAC in the same ranking, averaging a 16:29.51 time. Mercy Kinyanjui (16:01.68), Madeline Vining (16:20.16) and Joy Chirchir (16:21.90) all rank top-10 in program history for their fastest times.

In the field, Nora Hark is coming off a victory in the javelin, winning at the Tiffin Track Carnival off a 37.81m throw. Her longest throw of the outdoor season is 40.89, a personal best set at the Raleigh Relays on March 28.
