Toledo to host Rocket Invitational in Savage Arena on Sept. 13-14
TOLEDO, Ohio - The Toledo women's volleyball team announced its 2024 schedule on Wednesday.
The Rockets will prepare for their Mid-American Conference season by competing in four tournaments against a variety of opponents. UT opens its season with a tournament at Binghamton (Aug. 30-31) followed by a trip to Iowa State (Sept. 5-7) where it will face three Power Five programs – Illinois, Wake Forest, and the host Cyclones. Toledo hosts the Rocket Invitational on Sept. 13-14 when it will welcome Eastern Washington, Marshall, and Northern Kentucky to Savage Arena. The Rockets' final tournament will be at South Dakota State (Sept. 19-21).
Conference play begins with three straight home matches vs. Northern Illinois (Sept. 27-28) and Bowling Green (Oct. 1). The Rockets will also host Central Michigan (Oct. 10), Eastern Michigan (Oct. 11), Miami (Oct. 24-25), and Ball State (Nov. 8-9). Toledo's MAC road contests will be at Ohio (Oct. 4-5), Akron (Oct. 17), Buffalo (Oct. 18), Western Michigan (Nov. 1-2), Bowling Green (Nov. 5) and Kent State (Nov. 15-16).
The 2024 MAC Tournament will be held at the location of the regular-season champion.
"I am really excited about the schedule that we have put together," Head Coach Jason Oliver said. "It will challenge our team with some great competition and will force our team to make improvements every weekend. The Mid-American Conference is always a tremendous challenge and I know that our team will really embrace the challenges ahead of us in the fall."
The Rockets will be led by four-time first-team All-MAC honoree Taylor Alt. She ranked third in the conference with 4.32 kills/set and had eight matches with at least 20 kills. Sophomore Macy Hatkevich is also returning after leading all freshman setters in the MAC in assists (9.81/set) to earn a spot on the MAC All-Freshman Team,
Toledo reached the MAC Tournament semifinals last year before falling to eventual champion Western Michigan. The Rockets posted an 11-7 record in league play last year, marking the first time in program history UT has posted double-digit win totals in three consecutive seasons.
