TOLEDO, Ohio – The Toledo softball team has a full week ahead of itself as it heads to Ann Arbor for a single game vs. Michigan on Wednesday, March 27 before hosting Ball State in its first games of the season at Scott Park on Friday-Saturday, March 29-30.

Last Time on the Field
Toledo (13-12, 4-2 MAC) swept its three-game series at Bowling Green in the annual Battle of I-75 over the weekend for the first time since 2018. The Rockets won the opener 8-3 on Friday, did not strike out in Saturday's 8-4 victory, and capped the series with a 12-0 (5 inn.) perfect game from junior Sophia Knight and freshman Mady Yackee. The perfect game is the first for the program on record and the second shutout of the season.

Rockets on Record
  • Senior Jenna Kroll picked up four RBIs over the weekend to bring her to 98 for her career, which ranks No. 4 in Toledo history. Rhonda King holds the program record with 131 RBIs from 1987-90.  
  • Junior Eli Enriquez picked up four thefts at Meserve Field which puts her at 22 stolen bases this season, tying Jessica Lemieux (2015) for fifth most in a season. Leigh Ross stole a record 44 bases in 1991.
About Michigan (20-11, 3-0 Big 10)
  • Michigan has won its last six games, including a recent series sweep of Purdue and is 4-0 at Alumni Field this year.
  • The Wolverines are in their second season under head coach Bonnie Tholl. She served as UM's associate head coach for 20 of the last 29 years. Michigan went 26-25 a year ago and was knocked out of the 2023 Big Ten Tournament by Penn State.
  • Outfielder Ellie Sieler is leading the Michigan offense at the plate with a .326 average and 22 runs scored, while outfielder Jenissa Conway has five homers, three triples, and 20 RBIs in her first collegiate season. In the circle, Lauren Derkwoski has 105 strikeouts with a 1.47 ERA in 94.0 innings. 
About Ball State (15-17, 2-4 MAC)
  • Ball State is in its first season under head coach Helen Peña.
  • The Cardinals took two of three games against Ohio and was swept by Kent State last weekend.
  • Utility player McKayla Timmons is leading BSU with a .359 average at the plate and has knocked 15 out of the park while driving in 37 runs. RHP Francys King has a 3.49 ERA with 47 strikeouts in 1001.1 innings in the circle.
On Deck
Toledo will play a mid-week doubleheader at Central Michigan on Wednesday, April 6, before heading home to play Kent State in a three-game series on April 6-7.
