HENDERSON, Nev. – Senior Barend Botha finished the Toledo men's golf team's first spring tournament by firing a second-straight three-under par 69 on Wednesday at the Lake Las Vegas Intercollegiate. The Rockets finished with a team score of three-over par 867 to tie for 14th place out of 22 teams at the par-72, 7,204-yard Reflection Bay Golf Course.

VCU captured the tournament title at 20-under par with South Florida's Jake Peacock earning medalist honors with a nine-under par 207.

Botha closed out today's round with two birdies to finish the tournament tied for 25th at two-under par. Sophomore Mads Jensen shot UT's second-best round of the day with an even-par 72 to finish with a three-over par 219. He was tied for 65th place with senior Jamie Tofte Nielsen.

Seniors Palmer Yenrick (220/T-73rd) and NJ Botha (230/T-114th) rounded out the Rockets' lineup.

"We performed below our expectations, and nobody can say they were satisfied," Head Coach Jeff Roope said. "Competition is the only remedy for this bad taste, so we're glad to get back on the horse at Auburn in 10 days."

Toledo's next tournament is set for Monday-Tuesday, March 11-12 at Auburn's Tiger Intercollegiate in Auburn, Ala.
