Rockets Tame Cougars 5-2 in Chicago

CHICAGO, Ill. – Senior Marko Galic clinched match point for the Toledo men's tennis team in a 5-2 victory at Chicago State on Saturday night. The win improved UT's record to 5-5 on the season.
Freshman Poonthong Komolpisut won the first match of the season, in a quick 6-0, 6-1 decision from the No. 6 spot. Junior Hanamichi Carvajal put the Rockets at match point from his two-set victory at the No. 2 spot, and Galic delivered the clincher, a three-set decision over Pedro Alvarez from the No. 1 court.
Chicago State took back-to-back matches at the No. 3 and No. 4 courts, but sophomore Matias Olivero had the last victory of the evening. He lost his first set to Zak Radziwillowicz (4-6) and came back to win the second set (6-2) and the tiebreaker (7-5) to end the match at 5-2.
Senior Adam Kovac and Olivero won the No. 3 doubles court, while Carvajal and freshman Cole Cozens won the No. 2 court to clinch the doubles point for the Rockets.
Toledo will take on Notre Dame (3-3) tomorrow at 5:00 p.m. in South Bend, Ind.
