Toledo Set to Take on Kent State

Rockets wrap up regular season play against Golden Flashes this weekend

TOLEDO, Ohio – The Toledo women's volleyball team is set to take on Kent State during the final regular season weekend of Mid-American Conference play. The Rockets and Golden Flashes are scheduled to meet on Friday, Nov. 15 at 6:00 p.m. and Saturday, Nov. 16 at 4:00 p.m. Both matches will be streaming on ESPN+.

Toledo currently owns an overall record of 15-13 (8-8 MAC) and is in seventh place in the MAC standings, just one spot out of a tournament berth. The Rockets are behind Ohio and Buffalo and would need both teams to drop this weekend's matches for a chance at earning the final bid to the championship. Kent State sits at 2-24 overall (1-15 MAC).

ROCKET NOTES
  • Toledo ranks fourth in the league in blocks per set (2.18) and fifth in total blocks (222.5).
  • Freshman libero Grace Freiberger leads the conference in digs per set (4.94). Freiberger's 4.94 digs per set are good for 25th nationally and second among all freshman in the country. The freshman is fourth in the conference and 39th in the nation in total digs (459).
  • Fifth-year senior Taylor Alt is third in the MAC in total kills (373) and fourth in the conference in kills per ser (3.69).
  • Sophomore setter Macy Hatkevich is averaging 8.29 assists per set, good for sixth in the league.
  • Redshirt freshman middle blocker Sierra Pertzborn is sixth in the conference in blocks per set (1.06) and total blocks (105).
SCOUTING THE GOLDEN FLASHES
  • Kent State is sixth in the conference in blocks per set, averaging 2.02.
  • Junior outside hitter Mackenzie McGuire leads the Kent State offense, averaging 3.14 kills per set.
  • Junior libero Greta Bologini leads the team in digs per set with 2.97 while junior setter Kendall White follows behind averaging 2.58 digs per set.
SERIES STUFF
  • Toledo leads the all-time series, 36-31.
  • Kent State won the lone meeting of the 2023 season in Toledo, 3-1.
