Leroy Blyden Jr., Phoenix Glassnor, Will James Jr., Toby Nwokolo and London Praytor joining Rockets
TOLEDO, Ohio – Head Coach Tod Kowalczyk announced the addition of Leroy Blyden Jr. (Detroit, Mich.), Phoenix Glassnor (Port Huron, Mich.), Will James Jr. (Holly Springs, N.C.), Toby Nwokolo (Reynoldsburg, Ohio) and London Praytor (Colorado Springs, Colo.) to the Toledo men's basketball program on Wednesday. The quintet made their decisions official to attend the University of Toledo on National Signing Day and will join the Rockets on campus prior to the start of the 2025-26 academic year.
"I'm really excited about our recruiting class and welcoming a new group into our Rocket family," Kowalczyk said. "I feel like our recruiting continues to get better every year, and this year we are adding a lot of different pieces that can play multiple positions."
A 6-foot-1 guard, Blyden earned second-team all-state honors last year after averaging 20.0 ppg, 4.5 rpg, 3.5 apg and 2.0 spg for University of Detroit Jesuit. He also was a First-Team All-Detroit, All-CHSL and All-League selection.
"Leroy is as talented as a point guard we've had a chance to recruit," Kowalczyk said. "He's from the same school as (current Rocket) Sonny Wilson and is extremely well-coached. I think he'll come in and hit the ground running and be ready to play right away."
Glassnor is an all-around athlete and has been a part of state championship teams as a standout wide receiver in football and a scoring guard in basketball at De La Salle High School. The 6-foot-0 guard is a two-time all-state selection and averaged 21.0 ppg, 3.5 rpg, 4.0 apg and 1.8 spg last season.
"Phoenix is a multi-sport athlete who just finds ways to get buckets," Kowalczyk said. "He can score in bunches and has a chance to be an elite defender. He's a high-level wide receiver in high school too, and I think those type of players translate well to how we play."
A 6-foot-4 guard, James averaged 23.6 ppg, 6.5 rpg and 3.5 apg for Holly Springs High School and was named the Southwest Wake 4A Conference Player of the Year and a honorable-mention all-state selection.
"Will James is a tough combo guard who can play the one and the two," Kowalczyk said. "He's big, physical and looks like a free safety. He's college-ready and a complete winner. We're expecting big things from him as a freshman."
Nwokolo was ranked as the No. 12 player in Ohio and the No. 62 power forward nationally at Reynoldsburg High School. The 6-foot-6 forward received special-mention honors for the Ohio Capital Conference's Buckeye Division after helping the Raiders to a 19-7 overall record last season.
"Toby reminds us of (former Rocket) Seth Millner," Kowalczyk said. "He's probably going to play a lot at the four for us. He's an athletic, perimeter-oriented forward that can space the floor. He's really good on the glass who makes a lot of hustle plays. Having a four-man who is a good shooter like Toby is very important for our program."
A 7-foot-0 forward, Praytor received CSML Player of the Year and first-team all-league accolades after averaging 14.9 ppg, 9.5 rpg and 3.2 bpg for Liberty High School last season.
"London possesses a unique skill set," Kowalczyk said. "He's a seven-footer who shoots threes well, can block shots and has good footwork. I'm excited to see how he develops and grows in our program."
