Three Rockets finish in Top 15 with junior Mads Jensen tying for team-best seventh place
LEXINGTON, Ky. – Three Rockets posted Top 15 finishes on Tuesday to help the Toledo men's golf team tie for fourth place at Kentucky's Cullan Brown Collegiate. UT shot the best round of the day with an eight-over par 294 in today's final round to finish at 45-over par in the 54-hole tournament held at the par-71, 7,280-yard Lexington Country Club.
Junior Mads Jensen led the Rockets by tying for seventh place at eight-over par 221 for his second-consecutive Top 10 showing. He carded Toledo's best round of the tournament today with an even-par 71 in a round that included six birdies and six bogeys.
Freshmen Bence Bertenyi (222) and Julius Lange (223) each registered their best finish of the season by tying for 10th and 13th place, respectively. Bertenyi played his final three holes at one-under par, while Lange closed out today's round at two-under par in his final five holes.
"Mads, Bence and Julius each showed a lot of resiliency and was it good to see them fight through the challenges of playing on a difficult golf course ," Head Coach Jeff Roope said.
Sophomore Marijn Hoogeveen and senior CJ van Wyk each carded five-over par 76s today en route to finishing tied for 52nd and 57th place, respectively.
Toledo originally was scheduled to Vero Beach, Fla. for the Quail Valley Collegiate Invitational on Sunday-Monday, Oct. 13-14, but the tournament has been canceled due to Hurricane Milton.
