TOLEDO, Ohio – Fifth year senior
Taylor Alt recorded a team-best 10 kills and four service aces in a three-set sweep over Miami in Mid-American Conference action on Thursday night at Savage Arena. The win moved Toledo (14-8, 7-3 MAC) into sole possession of fourth place in the league standings amd just a half-game behind first place Buffalo (8-3 MAC).
"I was happy that out offense showed up big," said head coach
Jason Oliver. "We hit with a high percentage, and it forced a scrappy Miami team into some bad transition opportunities. We are going to have to find different ways to score tomorrow for sure."

Miami (7-14, 1-9 MAC) was led by Caroline Cermack and Ana Vetter with eight kills each.
HOW IT HAPPENED
SET ONE (25-19 Toledo)
- Miami took an early 7-4 lead off three straight kills, but Toledo responded with 7-1 run to take the lead, 11-8.
- The RedHawks and Rockets traded runs during the set and a four-point surge by Toledo put the host team ahead, 15-14.
- An ace from Caylee Sharkey kept the Rockets in front, 17-16.
- Toledo closed out the set on a 6-1 run, firing off five straight points to take the set win.
- The Rockets totaled 14 kills and only two errors on 27 attempts for a .444 clip in the first set.
SET TWO (25-19 Toledo)
- The RedHawks jumped out to a quick 5-1 lead behind four consecutive kills. Toledo chipped away and tied the match, 7-7, on a block from Taylor Alt and Anna Alford.
- Miami retook a three-point lead, 11-8. The Rockets fired off a 7-0 surge behind two service aces from Alt to regain control, 15-11.
- Sharkey's second ace of the match and a termination from Alt kept Toledo ahead, 20-16.
- The Rockets closed the set out on a 5-1 run, thanks to two kills from Alt and a block from Alford and Olivia Heitkamp.
SET THREE (25-21 Toledo)
- An ace from Alt and a block from Heitkamp and Sierra Pertzborn put Toledo in front, 10-8, as both sides traded points during the beginning of the set.
- After going back-and-forth, the Rockets were able to rattle off a 7-1 run powered behind kills from Pertzborn, Heitkamp and Kayla Ozanich.
- Miami fired off a quick three-point run to get within three, 23-20, but two errors from the RedHawks secured the match win for Toledo.
