Nagy was Toledo’s individual Mid-American Conference Champion in 1961 and collected four titles in his career from 1959-63
TOLEDO, Ohio – The Toledo men's tennis program mourns the loss of Hall of Famer and four-time Mid-American Conference champion William "Bill" Nagy, who passed away on Thursday, Dec. 14.
Bill was a member of the Rockets' program from 1959-63. He became UT's first-ever individual MAC Champion in 1961 and defended his title in 1962 and 1963 from the No. 1 court. Nagy also won the No.1 doubles title in the 1962 MAC Championships.
Nagy is one of only two Rockets ever to achieve a three-peat of individual championships. Hall of Famer Dean Eisner (1977) also won three consecutive singles and doubles titles in his career.
