Barend Botha Shoots Two-Over on Day One of NCAA Bath Regional

Junior is tied for 51st place after 18 holes
BATH, Mich. – Junior Barend Botha shot a two-over par 73 and is tied for 51st place following Monday's opening round of the 2023 NCAA Bath Regional being held at the par-71, 7,090-yard Eagle Eye Golf Club.
"Barend's ball striking today was pretty good with the exception of one or two loose swings and a little bit of nerves early on," Head Coach Jeff Roope said. "If he came get some putts to drop the rest of the week he will be in good shape."
Botha bounced back from a double-bogey on the par-three, 157-yard No. 2 hole with a pair of birdies to hit the back nine at even-par. He birdied the par-five, 591-yard fourth hole as well as the par-four, 403-yard eighth hole.
Botha remained at even-par until bogeying the par-four, 487-yard No. 13 hole but quickly rebounded with a birdie on the par-five, 560-yard No. 14 hole. He then concluded his round with bogeys on No. 16 and No. 18.
Botha will tee off on Tuesday at 10:12 a.m. The final round of the tournament will be held on Wednesday, May 17.
