Mayson Bates Leads Rockets to Successful Day at Tennessee Relays

Four more Rockets earn PRs in Knoxville
KNOXVILLE, Tenn. – The Toledo women's track & field team took home four personal bests to round out the weekend at the Tennessee Invite on Saturday.
Sophomore Mayson Bates led the way for the Rockets, posting a PR of 14.38 in the 100H prelims. She advanced to the finals, where she placed sixth (14.58). Also joining Bates in the event was senior Alexia Moehling, who finished 11th in the prelims with a time of 14.76.
Senior Ava Moran and Paris Gosha competed in the 100m, placing 13th and 22nd, respectively. Moran clocked a time of 12.53 while Gosha reached a new PR with a time of 12.66.
Freshmen Laryah Worthy and Khamani Jones both earned new personal bests in the 400m. Worthy crossed the finish line in 1:00.75 while Jones completed the race in 1:02.59. Junior Shianne Johnson posted a time of 1:03.78 to round out the 400m field for Toledo.
Junior Audrey Witham came within 0.06 of her PR in the 800m, clocking a time of 2:18.79 to place 20th.
Senior Jordyn Boyer was the lone Rocket competing in the 3000m steeplechase. She recorded a time of 11:49.51 to finish 10th.
The 4x100m relay team of Paris Gosha, Ava Moran, Jimesha Ragland, and Meyah Haywood placed eighth overall with a time of 48.32.
Sophomore jumpers Amara Okpalaoka and Sydney Caddell competed in the triple jump, reaching marks of 10.73m and 9.71m, respectively.
The Rockets will head to Azusa, Calif., on Wednesday-Friday, April 12-14, for the Bryan Clay Invitational before competing in the Tiffin Track Carnival on Saturday-Sunday, April 15-16.
