Julia Kuszynski Earns First MAC Co-Singles Player of the Week Honor This Season

Kuszynski honored for second time in her career

TOLEDO, Ohio – Junior Julia Kuszynski picked up her first Mid-American Conference Co-Singles Player of the Week of the season, the league office announced on Thursday.

Kuszynski clinched Toledo's 4-3 victory over Miami last Friday with a 7-5, 4-6, 6-3 victory at No. 6 singles over Mayo Ushio. After winning the first set and dropping the second, Kuszynski went up 3-0 in the third and never trailed.

The award is Kuszynski's second conference honor of her career after previously being recognized on April 14, 2021. She has won her last three matches and is 5-1 in MAC play from the No. 6 court.

The win extended Toledo's winning streak to seven matches and improved their overall record to 15-3 overall. The Rockets also maintained their unblemished 6-0 MAC record which is the best start in program history.

With just two weeks left in the regular season, Toledo will visit Miami and Western Michigan this weekend.
