Rockets Drop Both Ends of Doubleheader vs. Chippewas

TOLEDO, Ohio – The Toledo softball team tried to rally in the sixth inning but fell 3-2 in the opening game of Wednesday's doubleheader, before falling 1-0 in the nightcap to Central Michigan to close out a three-game series at Scott Park. Â
Jenna Kroll blasted a solo home run to kick off Game 1 before the Chippewas took the lead in the second inning off a two-run dinger by Emily Bracamonte, the younger sister of Toledo head coach Jessica Bracamonte. CMU added a run in the fifth before Toledo closed the gap at 3-2 in the sixth. The Rockets went down in order to end the game.
The Chippewas' second-inning run in Game 2 was the only offense generated for the remainder of the afternoon.
Erin Hunt (10-11) and Sophia Knight (4-8) each fanned five batters in 7.0 innings in the circle for the Rockets in defeat.. Â
Toledo (14-21, 7-10 MAC) will head to Kent, Ohio this weekend for a three-game series with Kent State. The series opens with a single game on Friday, April 14 at 3:00 p.m., followed by a doubleheader on Saturday, April 15 at 1:00 p.m.

- CMU scored the game's only run on Abbey Tolmie's two-out single in the second inning.
- The Chippewas loaded the bases with no outs in the seventh, but the Rockets got out of the jam with no runs scoring.
- Toledo's Macey Moore grounded out to the pitcher to end the game.
