Rockets record three personal bests in Cincinnati

CINCINNATI, Ohio – Toledo senior Alexia Moehling and junior Krystal Clark took the crowns in the 100m hurdles and 800m, respectively, to lead the Rockets in the Oliver Nikoloff Invitational on Saturday.

Moehling paced the 100H field with a time of 14.64 to collect the victory, while sophomore Mayson Bates finished just behind her in second place. Bates recorded a time of 14.68 in her first attempt at the event this season.

Clark was one of three Rockets to compete in the 800m, finishing with a time of 2:13.39 to win the event. Sophomore Margrett Watt and junior Audrey Witham placed ninth and 12th in the event, with Watt recording a time of 2:17.74 and Witham posting a personal-best time of 2:18.73.

Five Rockets competed in the 100m, with senior Ava Moran leading the way with a 10th-place finish. Moran posted a PR  time of 12.33, while junior Meyah Haywood finished 16th with a 12.57 time. Freshman Paris Gosha (12.75), sophomore Jimesha Ragland (12.88), and freshman Khamani Jones (12.92) all completed their first collegiate 100m races, placing in the top-30.

Junior Shianne Johnson was the lone Rocket to run the 400m, crossing the finish line at 1:02.81 to finish 16th overall.

Senior Jordyn Boyer ran a personal-best 4:54.27 in the 1500m to place 23rd.

Toledo's 4x100m team of Gosha, Moran, Ragland, and Haywood placed fifth, clocking a time of 49.16.

In the high jump, freshmen Makenna Englund and Clare Logan both recorded jumps of 1.56m. Englund finished ninth in the event while Logan placed 16th. Bates reached a height of 1.51m to place 18th.

Logan led the Rockets in the long jump with a mark of 5.43m, placing seventh. Sophomore Amara Okpalaoka finished in 10th with a mark of 5.22, while sophomore Sydney Caddell placed 13th with a 5.12m jump.

Eight members of the men's cross country team also represented the Rockets in Cincinnati. Freshman Eric Hollar and sophomore Xavier Gallo competed in the 1500m, recording respective times of 4:09.58 and 4:23.25.

Junior Geoff Howles earned a fourth-place finish in the 5000m, crossing the finish line at 14:42.17. Freshman Joshuah Taylor also finished in under 15 minutes, clocking a time of 14:56.94 to place 11th. Seniors Cooper Losey and Jonathon Hrivnak crossed the finish line in 15:19.74 and 15:22.05, respectively, while sophomore Gavin Lammers completed the race in 15:47.23. Rounding out the field for the Rockets was freshman Avery Casillas, who completed the 5k in 16:22.58.

The Rockets will travel to Knoxville, Tenn., next Friday and Saturday to compete in the Tennessee Invite, which will take place at Tom Black Track on the campus of the University of Tennessee.
