Giglio finishes 29th on three-meter at the NCAA Zones; Lovell leads swimmers at CSCAA Championships
TOLEDO, Ohio – Kennedy Lovell led the way for a group of seven representatives from the Toledo women's swimming and diving team at the College Swimming & Diving Coaches Association of America (CSCAA) National Invitational Championships Thursday afternoon in Elkhart, Ind.
Also on Thursday, Madison Giglio finished 29th on the three-meter board at the NCAA Zone C Diving Championships on Thursday in Bloomington, Ind.
Madeline Blakely, Lovell, and Janne Slegers all competed in the opening day of the 2023 CSCAA National Invitational Championships, but did not advance to the finals of their respective events. Lovell led the way with prelims finish of 41st place in the 50 freestyle and 46th place in her first attempt this season at the 50 butterfly. Blakely swam a personal-best time of 27.57 in the 50 backstroke. Slegers made her first appearance at the postseason invitational and swam a PR of 23.90 in the 50 freestyle.
On the boards, Giglio dove for a score of 253.05 in the prelims to finish 29th of 49 divers, but did not advance to the finals.
Day two of competition continues Friday for all eight Toledo representatives. Prelims of the CSCAA NIT will begin at 9:30 and finals are scheduled for 6:00 p.m. Giglio will compete in the one-meter boards tomorrow at 1:00 p.m.
