Toledo Falls to USF, 5-2 in Florida

Rockets will stay in Florida for their final non-conference match next Wednesday
TAMPA, Fla. – The Toledo women's tennis teams suffered a 5-2 loss to University of South Florida on Sunday afternoon to split its spring break opening weekend in Tampa, Fla. The Rockets defeated Louisiana Tech, 4-3, on Saturday.
"My team laid it all out there today," head coach Tracy Mauntler said after the USF match. "We are disappointed in the outcome but not the effort. This tough schedule will pay off during our MAC season. I believe that completely."
Toledo captured the team doubles point thanks to wins from Sloane Teske and Mariona Perez at the No. 1 court and Sanjana Tallamraju and Julia Kuszynski at the No. 2 court.
Every singles court in the match went to three sets. South Florida tied the match at 1-1 for its first singles win at the No. 2 spot. Perez put the Rockets back in the lead, 2-1 with her win from the No. 3 court. The Bulls evened the score with their No. 6 court win, and then pulled ahead from the No. 5 court in a comeback win. USF clinched the match with wins at the No. 4 and No. 1 courts.
Toledo will play one final non-conference match, next Wednesday, March 8 vs. Florida Gulf Coast in Fort Myers, Fla. First serve is scheduled for 1:00 p.m.
