JT Shumate were named first-team honorees and Head Coach
Tod Kowalczyk was named Coach of the Year as part of the National Association of Basketball Coaches' announcement of the 2022-23 all-district teams on Tuesday.

Dennis' and Shumate's recognition marks the 12
th straight year at least one Rocket has been included on the all-district squad. The NABC divides the nation into 25 districts and honors 10 players from each district, signifying a five-player first team and a five-player second team.

A Plainfield, Ill. native, Dennis was named MAC Player of the Year last week and is the fifth Rocket ever to score 1,000 points in their first two seasons. He ranks second in the MAC with 19.7 ppg and also tops the conference with 5.7 apg and. Dennis was also named to the MAC All-Tournament Team last weekend after averaging 22.7 ppg and shooting 51.9 percent from the field.
Shumate is tied for second on the team with 16.0 ppg and leads the Rockets with 1.2 bpg and an 87.4 free-throw percentage. The Newark, Ohio native earned First-Team All-MAC honors last week. Shumate ranks first in program history in career marks with a 43.5 three-point FG% and an 84.4 FT%. He also ranks fourth all-time with a 55.5 FG% and fifth with 114 blocked shots.
Kowalczyk has guided the Rockets to five 20-win campaigns in the last six years and ranks second on Toledo's all-time win list with 258 victories in 13 seasons at the Rockets' helm. Toledo posted a school-record 17-game winning this season and ranks in the nation's Top 20 in nine categories. The Rockets are the nation's second-highest scoring team with 85.6 ppg and are also second with a 39.7 three-point FG% and fourth with a 49.6 FG%.
Toledo will open the 2023 National Invitational Tournament tonight at 7:00 p.m. vs. Michigan at the Crisler Center in Ann Arbor, Mich. The contest will be televised on ESPN2.
