
Lou Trois Takes the Mile Crown, Toledo Finishes Seventh at MAC Indoor Championships

Rockets collect 51 team points on final day of championships
BOWLING GREEN, Ohio – Junior Lou Trois captured first place in the mile to lead the Rockets on the final day of the Mid-American Conference Indoor Track & Field Championships at Bowling Green on Saturday. Trois turned on the jets on the final lap to win the mile with a time of 4:54.05. Her efforts helped the Rockets earn a seventh-place team score, tallying 51 points in the two-day meet. Eastern Michigan won the title with 89.50 points.
Freshmen Karina James and Lianna Surtz also recorded top-five finishes in the mile, placing third and fifth with times of 4:56.09 and 4:58.24. Sophomore Alex Bauer finished 10th in the event, crossing the finish line at 5:08.19.
Four Rockets competed in the 3000m, with three placing in the top-eight. Sophomore Joy Chirchir led the way for Toledo with a fifth-place finish and a time of 9:38.79. Junior Madeline Vining and freshman Jaydon Cirincione finished back-to-back in seventh and eighth place with times of 9:42.62 and 9:45.12, respectively. Rounding out the field for the Rockets was sophomore Morgan Hicks, who crossed the finish line at 9:54.24 to finish 12th.
Senior Alexia Moehling posted a new PR in the 60H, placing seventh in the finals with a time of 8.65.
The 4x400m team of Ava Moran, Sarah-Rose Sullivan, Laryah Worthy, and Shianne Johnson clocked the fastest time for the Rockets in the event this season, completing the relay in 3:57.02 to place seventh. The squad finished nearly ten seconds ahead of the 4:06.88 time from last week's Silverston Invitational.
In the 800m finals, junior Krystal Clark recorded a time of 2:15.44 to place sixth.
Sophomore Amara Okpalaoka was the lone Rocket competing in the triple jump. She recorded a mark of 11.22m in the event.
