Kilgore, Lovell Earn All-Conference Honors, Toledo Finishes Seventh at MAC Swimming & Diving Championships

Rockets record 36 personal-best times, 15 season-best times and 215 team points over four days of competition

OXFORD, Ohio – Lauren Kilgore and Kennedy Lovell were named Second-Team All-MAC at the conclusion of the 2023 Mid-American Conference Women's Swimming & Diving Championships on Saturday at Miami's Nixon Aquatic Center. Additionally, Lovell and the Rockets' 400 Freestyle Relay team each finished fifth in the final swims of the conference meet to help Toledo finish seventh overall with a team score of 215.

"We ended our season with countless personal-bests, probably the most in my 10 years of coaching," head coach Brie Globig said. "I'm incredible proud of the progress we've made this year and for Lauren Kilgore in earning Second-Team All-MAC honors."

Lovell and Janne Slegers qualified for the final race of the 100 freestyle. Lovell qualified with a 50.19 time while Slegers qualified with a PR 50.69 touch-time. In the finals, Lovell swam to a fifth-place finish with a time of 49.99, while Slegers finished 14^th and touched the wall at 50.79.

Kilgore and Morgan Schuld took to the blocks in the 200 butterfly and both recorded PR time. Kilgore recorded a 2:02.00 to move onto the finals, while Schuld raced in a time of 2:07.02. Kilgore swam a PR 2:01.59 in the finals for a 10^th-place finish.

Madison Giglio advanced to the 'B' finals of the three-meter dive and finished 12th overall with a score of 255.50.

Lindsey Creek and Jovana Duric opened the evening portion of events with the 1650 freestyle. Creek swam to a 12-place finish and beat her PR by nearly twenty-nine seconds at 17:04.71, and Duric touched 14^th at 17:05.48.

Another five of the nine Rockets who swam for a spot in the finals of the 100 freestyle recorded PR times but did not advance, including Ashley LeFever, Sydney Conrad, Lucie Morris, Alexis Schrecongost, and Caroline Wallenborg.

Both Madeline Blakely and Paula Pavillard-Salvador beat their previous personal-bests in the prelims of the 200 backstroke by nearly two seconds, Blakely with a 2:04.55 and Pavillard-Salvador at 2:04.77, both missing out on the championships race.

In the last race of the championships, the Toledo 'A' 400 Freestyle Relay team of LeFever, Lovell, Slegers, and Kilgore finished fifth with a season-best time of 3:22.05.
