TOLEDO, Ohio – The Toledo women's track & field team will travel to Bowling Green, Ohio, to compete in the 2023 Mid-American Conference Indoor Track & Field Championships on Friday-Saturday, Feb. 24-25. The meet will be held at the Perry Field House beginning at 10:00 a.m. each day and will be televised on ESPN3.

Toledo will have representatives in 11 events as it looks to build on last season's fourth-place finish.

Sophomore Joy Chirchir and juniors Lou Trois and Madeline Vining are among those who will look to make an impact for the Rockets. Chirchir, who will compete in the 3000m and 5000m, looks to defend her MAC titles in both events.

Trois, a two-time MAC Track Athlete of the Week, holds the second-fastest time in school history in the mile.

Vining, who also has a MAC Track Athlete of the Week honor to her name, currently holds the school record in the 3000m and the eighth-fastest time in Rocket history in the 5000m.

The Rockets concluded the indoor regular season at last weekend's Silverston Invitational in Ann Arbor, Mich. Toledo's 4x400m team of Laryah Worthy, Shianne Johnson, Krystal Clark, and Khamani Jones captured first-place, while eight Rockets ran personal best times. Among them were senior Alexia Moehling (8.69) and sophomore Mayson Bates (8.70), who etched their names in the Toledo record books, respectively with the sixth- and seventh-fastest 60H times in school history. Sophomore Sydney Caddell (5.20m) recorded a PR in the long jump, while Bates and freshman Makenna Englund both reached career-long marks of 1.58m in the high jump. Junior Meyah Haywood clocked a 7.91 time in the 60m, and Worthy completed the 200m in 26.34 time.

Toledo moved up one place to No. 17 (36.55 points) in the fifth release of the NCAA D-I Great Lakes Region rankings, as announced by the US Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) on Monday. The Rockets remained steady at No. 4 (290.48 points) in the USTFCCCA's Mid-American Conference rankings, while the mile and 3000m squads placed 28th and 35th, respectively, in the #EventSquad national rankings.
