Pawit Sornlaksup extends singles winning streak to 27 straight
MIAMISBURG, Ohio – The Toledo men's tennis team picked up its second win this week and fourth in a row overall with a 4-3 decision vs. Dayton on Friday night at the South Regency Tennis Center in Miamisburg, Ohio.
"This was a back-and-forth rollercoaster," head coach Al Wermer said. "But that's why we came. That's' exactly what we were expecting and the match delivered the satisfying drama we wanted."
Toledo started out strong in its second match of the weekend, winning the doubles point thanks to victories from Pawit Sornlaksup and Krzysztof Wetoszka at the top court and Marko Galic and Adam Kovac at the No. 2 court. Luis Kleinschnitz and Matias Olivero were one set from clinching the No. 3 court, ahead 5-3, when the match was ruled unfinished.
Dayton tied the match at 1-1 after winning the first singles point from the No. 5 court in two sets. Galic won the No. 3 court in a two-set final to put the Rockets ahead again, but the Flyers tied the match at 2-2 winning the No. 2 court in a three-set decision. For the 27th-consecutive time, Sornlaksup defended the No. 1 court, this time in two sets over the Flyers' top player Connor Bruce.
