TOLEDO, Ohio – Director of Cross Country and Track & Field
Andrea Grove-McDonough announced the indoor portion of the Toledo women's track & field schedule today. The schedule features eight meets, culminating in the 2024 Mid-American Conference Indoor Track & Field Championships on Friday-Saturday, Feb. 23-24Â in Ypsilanti, Mich.Â
Grove-McDonough enters her sixth season as head coach and returns with second-year assistant coach
Spencer Cameron-Pressley. Associate head coach
Tito Medrano and assistant coach Zak Kirk are embarking on their first season on the coaching staff.
At last season's 2023 MAC Indoor Championships, Toledo was highlighted by distance runner
Lou Trois, who took gold in the mile run (4:54.05) and the distance medley relay team of
Emily Vining,
Jaydon Cirincione,
Ava Moran, and Trois who earned a silver medal (11:46.10). Returning with Trois, Vining, and Cirincione this season are
Joy Chirchir and
Madeline Vining who had a 4-5 finish in the 5,000m and a 5-7 respective finish in the 3,000m. Also finishing on the podium in Bowling Green were
Karina James (3
rd/ mile),
Lianna Surtz (5
th/ mile), and
Krystal Clark (6
th/ 800m), who also return this indoor season.
Toledo will open the indoor season with three consecutive meets in Michigan, beginning with the Wolverine Invitational on Saturday, Jan. 13 before heading to Ypsilanti for Eastern Michigan's Bob Parks Memorial. Toledo will find itself back in Ann Arbor for the two-day Michigan Invitational (Jan. 26-27) to close out the first month of competition.
The Rockets will split time between the Akron Invite and Notre Dame's Meyo Invitational the weekend of Feb. 2. The following weekend, Toledo will spend two days at Boston's David Hemery Valentine Invitational, before closing out the regular season back in Ann Arbor for Michigan's Silverston Invitational on Friday, Feb. 16.
Eastern Michigan will host the 2024 MAC Indoor Track & Field Championships on Feb. 23-24 in Bowen Field House.
The outdoor portion of the Rocket's 2024 schedule will be released at a later date.
