Rockets add two highly touted players to the 2024-25 roster
TOLEDO, Ohio – Toledo women's tennis head coach Tracy Mauntler announced the addition of National Letters of Intent signees Annika Munson and Jacklynka Scholten to the 2024-25 roster on Wednesday. Munson and Scholten are both ranked No. 2 in the class of 2024 recruits for their states, Minnesota and Virginia.Â
Mauntler has big shoes to fill when the current seniors graduate in May, and she believes her incoming class can help fill that void.
"Recruiting for this year's senior class has been a tall task," Mauntler said. "These seniors will graduate as the winningest Toledo class of all time. But more than that, they have set a completely new standard as to what it means to be part of this program. Having said that, I couldn't be happier with our incoming class of 2024. I recruit character before talent, so I was drawn to these individuals because of the kind of people they are and the level they hold themselves to. As tennis players, they are incredibly talented and superb competitors. I have high hopes for them that they will continue to make this program even stronger."
The following is a look at the Rockets' 2024-25 recruiting class:
Annika Munson
Hometown: Stillwater, MN
High School: MahtomediÂ
Anticipated Major: Biology
About Annika:
Tracy's take: "Annika is a grinder by nature which is what stuck out to me immediately. Typically, it's these kinds of student-athletes that fit perfectly into our environment here at Toledo. I'm not sure where Annika's ceiling is, but we are going to try and find out."
Jacklynka "JJ" Scholten
Hometown: Arlington, VA
High School: Laurel Springs Online School
Anticipated Major: Neuroscience
About Jacklynka:
Tracy's take: "I was drawn to JJ immediately. The recruiting process was smooth, and it was obvious early on that she would fit right into our team culture. JJ comes in as one of the highest-ranked Rocket recruits of all time. She will impact the program right away."
