Rockets to Play Three Matches at WKU Tournament this Weekend

TOLEDO, Ohio – The Toledo women's volleyball team (4-2) heads to No. 21 Western Kentucky this weekend for the Holiday Inn-University Plaza Invitational. The Rockets will face WKU, Northern Kentucky, and Austin Peay in their final road tournament of the season.

Western Kentucky vs. Austin Peay – 4:00 p.m. ET

Last Time Out
Toledo went 1-2 at the Michigan Invitational last weekend, dropping matches to Michigan and Loyola Chicago before sweeping Morehead State on Saturday. The Rockets bounced back after a tough Friday to sweep the Eagles in dominant fashion. UT hit .418 on Saturday and held Morehead State to a .167 attack percentage. Jada Bouyer was outstanding, tallying a match-high 11 kills while hitting .786 and adding a pair of blocks. Rhyenne Filisi had a good day as well with seven kills and a .778 attack percentage. Payton Morman paced the Rockets' offensive attack with 27 assists while contributing three blocks on the defensive end.

Rocket Notes
  • Taylor Alt is the top point scorer in the MAC (4.23 points/set) and ranks third in kills/set (3.70). Alt has three matches with double-digit kills this season.
  • Payton Morman ranks sixth in the MAC in assists/set (9.50) and has helped lead an offensive attack that ranks third in the MAC in attack percentage (.249).
  • Jada Bouyer is off to a hot start this year, averaging 2.40 kills/set and hitting .300 across six matches. Bouyer has three outings with at least 10 kills.
  • Ryann Jaqua's career dig total sits at 1,212, ninth all-time in program history. She is just four digs away from moving into eighth place (Wendy Vogel, 1984-87).
About Northern Kentucky
The Norse are 1-5 entering the weekend, with their lone win coming against DePaul last weekend. NKU is hitting .136 as a team and is led individually by senior Reilly Briggs (2.87 kills/set), senior Anna Brinkmann (2.48 kills/set), and junior Allie Siefke (1.41 blocks/set).

About Western Kentucky
The No. 21-ranked Hilltoppers are 6-1 on the year with their lone loss coming at home to No. 3 Louisville. WKU has lost just two sets in its six other matches, capturing four of its six wins in three sets. Western Kentucky was picked to win the Conference USA title in the preseason coaches poll and senior Lauren Matthews was tabbed as the preseason player of the year. Matthews is averaging 3.65 kills/set and hitting .421.

About Austin Peay
Austin Peay is 2-3 this year, having notched wins over Louisiana Tech and Florida A&M. Senior Mickayla Powell is the Govs' top offensive threat and leads the team in kills (3.24/set) and attack percentage (.349). Junior Maggie Keenan and sophomore Jaida Clark are tied for the team lead in blocks, with both averaging 0.62/set.
