TOLEDO, Ohio — CBS Sports college basketball insider Jon Rothstein will serve as the keynote speaker for Toledo's annual Rocket Roundball Social on Tuesday, Nov. 1 from 6:00-8:00 p.m. on the main floor in Savage Arena. University of Toledo President Gregory Postel is hosting the event and all proceeds will go directly to the Toledo Men's Basketball Progress Fund.
The Rocket Roundball Social, which is an event that has grown into a Toledo Basketball tradition, offers individuals the opportunity to meet Dr. Postel, Head Coach
Tod Kowalczyk, his staff and players while enjoying food from some of Toledo's finest restaurants.
"This is the 13
th Rocket Roundball Social and it's been an unbelievable event for our program with the last seven or eight sold out," Kowalczyk said. "The amount of money we have raised during this time has certainly enhanced our program significantly. This event is our only fundraiser of the year, and our student-athletes are grateful for all the support they receive from our community."
Rothstein joined CBS Sports as the network's college basketball insider in 2010 and has been a contributor to the CBS Broadcast Network since 2016. In 2021, he joined CBS Sports and Turner Sports' coverage of the NCAA Tournament and has been a part of the coverage for the past two seasons. Rothstein is also the host of the "College Hoops Today" Podcast --- the only college basketball podcast that occurs 52 weeks out of the calendar year --- and in 2021, joined FanDuel as a content creator. He also writes a daily college basketball primer during the season entitled "The Breakfast Buffet", which can be found at
www.collegehoopstoday.com. Rothstein's past work has also been featured at
CBSSports.com, the New York Times, and Sports Illustrated. He joins an impressive list of speakers at previous Rocket Roundball Socials that includes John Beilein, Jay Bilas, Fran Fraschilla, Dan Gavitt, Seth Greenberg, Jeff Van Gundy and Stan Van Gundy.
"We're fortunate to have had tremendous speakers at our Rocket Roundball Social in the past," Kowalczyk said. "This year's speaker, Jon Rothstein. is as good as any we've had. He does an outstanding job on a national level for CBS Sports and is very well respected in the industry. Jon has a pulse on college basketball like nobody else, and we're proud and honored he is going to join our event."
