TOLEDO, Ohio – Toledo women's volleyball head coach
Jason Oliver announced two recent additions to the program on Monday.
Defensive Specialist/Setter Anna Ramlow and setter Mary-Kate Lopez will each join the Rockets' volleyball program for the 2022 season. Ramlow enters as a true freshman and Lopez, a transfer from Oregon State, will have two years of eligibility remaining at Toledo.
"With the additions of Anna and Mary-Kate, I feel that our team has a great competitive balance that will spur our team to new heights," Oliver said. "Mary-Kate has a great volleyball IQ and really is going to be an emotional leader for us. I can see her making every player around her better. Anna will add great ability at many positions. I am really looking forward to her ball control and competitiveness coming through every day we are in the gym. Our Rockets will be fun to watch this year and I am excited to coach a great group."
Ramlow recently wrapped up a successful high school career at Eastwood High School in nearby Pemberville, earning four varsity letters in volleyball. She was a four-time all-district and all-conference selection and was named Northern Buckeye Conference Player of the Year as a junior and senior. Ramlow helped lead Eastwood to a 71-25 record during her four years and and a share of the conference title as a junior. She averaged 2.9 digs/set during her career and averaged a career-best 6.4 assists/set as a senior this past fall.
Lopez comes to Toledo from Oregon State, when she played in 20 matches across the 2019 and 2020 seasons. She averaged 2.23 assists/set as a Beaver and tallied a career-best 62 assists as a freshman in 2019. Hailing from Mount Prospect, Ill., Lopez was a prep standout at Loyola Academy where she helped set the school record for wins as a senior in 2018. She earned the Girls Catholic Athletic Conference (GCAC) Female Athlete of the Year award that season as well. Lopez was named to the PrepVolleyball Senior Aces list and the 2017 Under Armour American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) Phenom List as a high schooler and was a two-time team MVP.
