Toledo Hosts Miami for Mid-Week Series

TOLEDO, Ohio – The Toledo softball team will play six conference games this week, starting with Miami (Ohio) on Tuesday and Wednesday at Scott Park. The Rockets and Redhawks are scheduled to play a doubleheader on Tuesday and a single game on Wednesday. All games can be watched locally on BCSN or streamed on ESPN+.

Miami (15-12, 6-2 MAC) dropped a pair of games to Ohio on Saturday, after winning the first game of the series on Friday. In the series opener, the Redhawks trailed the Bobcats 3-1 with two outs in the seventh but hit a pair of singles to knock in three runs to earn the 4-3 win. The next day, six different Miami batters recorded home runs in a 13-12 (11 inn.) loss. The Redhawks then lost Game Two, 12-7. Sophomore Karli Spaid leads the Redhawks' offense with a .369 average including 31 hits and 13 home runs, including two four-baggers from Saturday's doubleheader. In the circle, defending MAC Pitcher of the Year Courtney Vierstra has a 3.20 ERA and 95 strikeouts in 81.2 innings pitched.

Toledo (8-20, 1-6 MAC) will head to Akron for a three-game series at Lee R. Jackson Softball Field on Saturday and Sunday.

- Toledo rallied to tie the game in the sixth inning and then took the lead in extra innings vs. Michigan State in East Lansing on Wednesday, but ultimately fell to the Spartans, 5-4, in 11 innings.
- Freshman Sophia Knight went the distance vs. the Spartans, allowing four earned runs on 10 hits. She threw 166 pitches in a season-high 10.2 innings, the second-highest innings pitched in Toledo history.
- Senior Aubrey Reed hit her third home run of the season, a leadoff bomb in the eighth inning vs. MSU.
