TOLEDO, Ohio – The Toledo softball team will close out its non-conference scheduled this week at No. 20 Notre Dame on Tuesday, April 26, before heading to Akron for a rescheduled game on Wednesday, April 27. The Rockets will play the Fighting Irish at 5:00 p.m. in South Bend, Ind., and play the Zips at 3:00 p.m. in Akron, Ohio.

Last Time Out
- Toledo went 1-2 in its home series vs. Kent State over the weekend. The Rockets fell short on Saturday in a 7-4 opener and followed with a 13-2 run-rule setback in the nightcap. UT came back to win the series finale 7-6 in eight innings.
- Sophomore Lauren Erickson hit a two-run home run to center field in the first inning, her fourth of the season, to get the Rockets within one (3-2) during Saturday's game one. Erickson hit the walk-off double in Sunday's eighth-inning victory (7-6).
- Sophomore Molly Ryan hit a homer in the fourth inning for Toledo's final run of game two on Saturday, her second of the season.
- Senior Aubrey Reed paced Toledo's attack with two hits, including her sixth home run of the season, and three RBIs on Sunday.
Milestones to Watch
- Senior Dayna Denner became the new program-record holder for career home runs at 25 during Sunday's victory. Denner passed the previous record holder for career home runs, Kaitlin Bergman (2014-18) who set the record at 24, in Sunday's game vs. Kent State.
- Denner's three walks vs. Kent keeps her at seventh place on Toledo's career all-time walk list with 62. Leslie Strong (2005-08) sits atop the list with 105.
- Denner's one double in the Ball State series (April 15-16) put her at 34 for her career, tied with Brenda Steinbrunner (1986-89) and Lacy LaVier (2007-10) on the all-time list. Chandler Rice (2014-17) sits at the top of the list with 50.
- Reed, Denner and senior Raelyn Nyren are on the career hit by pitch list. Nyren is tied for third with Keri Gallagher (2008-11) with 18, Reed has six this season and is sixth-all time with 16, while Denner has been nicked eight times this season and is tied seventh on the list with Gina Muratori (2003-06) with 15. Allison Hess (2006-08) tops the list with 39.
- The Rockets' four home runs vs. Kent State gave them 29 this season, tying the fifth all-time single-season team record from 2010 and 2017. The current all-time record is held by the Rockets' 2018 team with 44.
About No. 20 Notre Dame
Notre Dame (35-9, 13-5 AAC) has won its last four games, capped by a series sweep over North Carolina over the weekend. The Fighting Irish won the series opener 4-1 on Friday, erased an early deficit to hold on and win Saturday's game 7-5, and earned a seventh inning, bases loaded walk-off victory (4-3) to complete the series sweep over the Tar Heels on Sunday. Sophomore Karina Gaskins leads Notre Dame's offense with a .441 batting average including 52 hits and 10 home runs this season. Senior Payton Tidd has a 14-4 record in the circle with a 2.62 ERA through 117.1 innings pitched a team-high 89 strikeouts.
About Akron
Akron (17-26, 12-10 MAC) took one of two games vs. Boling Green over the weekend. The Zips split the doubleheader on Saturday, falling 3-2 in the opener and winning the second game 5-2. The Falcons shut out the Zips on the finale on Sunday 9-0. Sophomore Molly McChesney has a team-high 37 hits with a .359 average. Junior Lexie Petrof has a 3.36 ERA through 91.2 innings pitched with a team-high 81 strike outs. Akron will play a makeup game at Kent State on Tuesday before hosting Toledo on Wednesday.
On Deck
Toledo play its final road series of the regular season at Northern Illinois on Friday-Saturday, April 29-30. The Rockets and Huskies will play a single game on Friday at 4:00 p.m. followed by a doubleheader on Saturday starting at 2:00 p.m. at Mary M. Bell Field.
