HOLLAND, Ohio – Sophomore Angel Hii shot a three-over par 75 on Friday to lead Toledo to a third-place standing after Friday's opening round of the 2022 Mid-American Conference Championships. The tournament is being held at the par-72, 6,158-yard Stone Oak Country Club.
Â
Kent State is leading the 10-team field at eight-over 296, nine shots in front of Northern Illinois and 19 in front of the Rockets. The Huskies' Jasmine Ly sits atop the individual leaderboard with a three-under par 69.
"We did a lot of things well today," Head Coach Jenny Coluccio said. "We did a good job of settling in considering how excited we were to be playing at home. The greens were firm and the fastest we've seen this spring. Managing the greens with the slope they possess will be important in the final two rounds."
Â
Hii tallied a team-high four birdies on a windy, cool day, including one on the 17th hole after posting a double-bogey on No. 15. She led all individuals in par-five scoring at three-under par and was tied for second with her four birdies.
Â
Freshman Yedam Lee is tied for 14th place with a seven-over par 79. She was tied for first in par-three scoring at one-under par and rebounded from shooting six-over on the front nine by recording two birdies en route to a one-over 37 on the back.
Â
Sophomore Macy Hanus is one stroke behind Lee and tied for 17th place. Junior Amelia Lee is tied for 22nd place with an 81, while sophomore Kaitlyn Natividad is tied for 29th place with an 82.
Â
The second round of the tournament will begin tomorrow at 9:00 a.m. The Rockets will be teeing off between 11:30 a.m.-12:10 p.m.
