BUFFALO, NY – The Toledo men's tennis team opened its final road trip Friday afternoon at Buffalo and lost a heartbreaker 4-3 at the UB Tennis Courts.
The Rockets started out strong with Marko Galic and Pawit Sornlaksup winning on the top doubles court.  Buffalo pulled out two 6-3 victories on the No. 2 and No. 3 courts to claim the doubles team point, which proved to be the deciding point of the match.
In singles play, Galic put the Rockets on the board in a two-set sweep from the No. 6 court, his seventh straight singles win. Buffalo pulled ahead with wins at No. 3 and No. 5, while Sornlaksup swept the No. 1 court for the 19th-consecutive match this season to keep the Rockets close. Sophomore Adam Kovac tied the match at 3-3 in a comeback three-set thriller at the No. 2 court. Senior Cole Shoults fell behind in his first set from No. 4, won the second set, and was broke twice in the third set loss, 6-2 to Gregg Hastings.
"The Bulls landed punches early and kept it going," head coach Al Wermer said. "We couldn't quite make the comeback."
Toledo (13-8, 6-3 MAC) will head to Binghamton on Sunday for an Easter morning match at 11:00 a.m. to close out the regular season.
