TOLEDO, Ohio – The Toledo men's tennis team swept another Mid-American Conference opponent on Sunday with a 7-0 triumph over Binghamton at Shadow Valley Tennis Club. The win marks the Rockets' third straight win overall and sixth-straight home victory this season.
The Rockets were aided by forfeit from the Bearcats on the No. 3 doubles court, so all it needed was the 6-3 win by
Luka Jankovic and
Adam Kovac on the No. 2 court to secure the doubles point for the Rockets.
Marko Galic and
Pawit Sornlaksup were up 5-3 on Court #1 when doubles play was halted.
Binghamton also had to forfeit the bottom two singles courts, giving Toledo a 3-0 match lead heading into singles competition.
Luis Kleinschnitz clinched the match for the Rockets from the No. 4 court in a two-set victory. Sornlaksup dropped his first set on the No. 1 court but came back to win his match (1-6, 6-4, 6-3) to keep his win-streak alive at 15 matches. The Rockets won the remaining singles courts to secure the 7-0 victory.
"It was a very professional match today," head coach
Al Wermer said. "We took care of business. We have a big month ahead, but 4-1 halfway through MAC play is decent."
UT will head to Muncie, Ind. on Saturday, April 2 for its second meeting with Ball State this season. First serve is scheduled for 2:00 p.m. at the Cardinal Creek Tennis Center.
