Toledo, Ohio – The Toledo women's tennis team looks to remain perfect at home when it hosts Northern Illinois on Friday, March 25. The Rockets will then pick up and leave for Muncie, Ind. to play Ball State on Sunday, March 27.
The Rockets (11-3, 1-0 in MAC) have won their last 10 home matches dating back to April 9, 2021. Both Friday's match is scheduled for a 1:00 p.m. start time, and Sunday's match will be played at 4:00 p.m.
Last Time on the Court
Toledo picked up its first conference win of the season in a 5-2 final vs. Eastern Michigan on Sunday. Senior
Patricia Panta secured the match for the Rockets with a sweep on the No. 5 court after the Rockets picked up the doubles point win from
Cassie Alcala and
Julia Kuszynski (No. 1 court) and Panta and
Laura Morera on the (No. 3 court). Alcala and Kuszynski have each won their last four matches on the No. 1 and No. 3 courts, respectively.
About Northern Illinois
Northern Illinois (12-6, 0-1 MAC) dropped its conference-opener vs. Bowling Green on Sunday, in a close 4-3 match. The Huskies tied the match with three-straight singles wins, but could not clinch the deciding No. 6 court. Later that same day, the Huskies swept Roosevelt University 7-0 to split the day's performance.
About Ball State
Reigning MAC Champion Ball State (10-2, 1-0 MAC) opened this season's conference play with a 5-2 victory vs. Western Michigan on Sunday, also marking its sixth straight match win this season. The Cardinals managed to win the doubles point from the Broncos, and clinched the match with two-set victories on the No. 2, No. 5 and No. 6 courts. Ball State will play at Buffalo on Friday before it hosts Toledo on Sunday at 1:00 pm.
Both Toledo and Ball State were picked to finish atop the conference with 28 points each earlier this month in the MAC Coaches Preseason Poll.
