Toledo Posts 5-1 Win Over DePaul on First Day of Yestingsmeier Event

DADE CITY, Fla. – No. 1 seed Toledo posted an impressive 5-1 victory over No. 8 seed DePaul on Monday on the first day of the Earl Yestingsmeier Match Play Event. The eight-team competition is being hosted by Mid-American Conference member Ball State at the Lake Jovita Golf Course.
Playing in their first event of the spring, the Rockets also held a 3-1 advantage against No. 5 seed Drake when the second round was suspended due to darkness.
Sophomore Barend Botha, junior NJ Botha and senior Max Siegfried posted victories for Toledo at No. 1, No. 4 and No. 5. Senior Lukas Clark was up one hole in his match vs. Drake with two holes remaining, while sophomore Jamie Tofte Nielsen was down one hole with one hole left.
Toledo will complete its second-round match against Drake tomorrow morning. Depending on the match's outcome, the Rockets will face either Dayton or Eastern Michigan.
