Rockets Sweep Wayne State, Findlay on Friday in 7-0 Victories

TOLEDO, Ohio – The Toledo women's tennis team closed out its first double dual match day of the season with 7-0 sweep victories over visiting Wayne State and Findlay on Friday. The victories make the Rockets 5-1 in dual matches this season, including 4-0 at home, and extended their winning streak to five matches.

Toledo won all but one match in the morning session with Wayne State. In doubles competition, Cassie Alcala and Sloane Teske swept their Warrior competitors (6-0) on the No.1 court. Laura Morera and Patricia Panta secured the doubles point win for UT with a 6-2 win on the No. 3 court. The Rockets ran away with the meet in singles competition, winning every court by nearly two sets. Sloane Teske won the No. 2 court by a close 6-3, 7-6 (9-7) final margin over WSU's Marta Komar.

Toledo carried over the same tough mentality from the morning match into its afternoon match with Findlay. The Rockets took an early lead in the match with the doubles point from 6-3 victories on all three courts. The Rockets showed no mercy and swept all six singles courts to end the match with a 7-0 final score to stay perfect at home.

"We did a good job with our focus today," head coach Tracy Mauntler said. "The group continues to improve and show what kind of competitors they are."

Toledo will host its final non-conference dual of the season on Friday, Feb. 11 against Duquesne. First serve between the Rockets and Dukes is scheduled for 1:00 p.m. at Twos Athletic Club.
