TOLEDO, Ohio - The Toledo men's basketball team (22-6, 14-3 MAC) will look to remain at the top of the Mid-American Conference when it hosts Miami (12-16, 6-11 MAC) on Saturday, Feb. 26 in a nationally televised contest on ESPNU. Tip-off time is set for Noon in Savage Arena.
The Rockets are tied for first place in the MAC with Ohio (23-5, 14-3) and a game ahead of third-place Kent State (18-9, 13-4 MAC). If the season ended today, Toledo would be the No. 1 seed in the MAC Tournament by virtue of sweeping its season series vs. the Bobcats.
The Rockets dominated the second half in Tuesday's 92-50 victory at Western Michigan. Toledo led 41-36 at halftime before holding the Broncos scoreless for over 10 minutes in the second half as part of a remarkable 28-0 run. Junior
Setric Millner Jr. exploded for a career-high 28 points and sophomore
Ryan Rollins tallied 20 points, seven rebounds and seven assists in the victory.
Rollins ranks third in the MAC with a team-high 19.0 ppg and is tied for the team lead with 6.1 rpg. Junior
JT Shumate is second with 15.4 ppg and also grabbing 6.1 rpg. Millner (14.5 ppg, 6.1 rpg) and
RayJ Dennis (12.5 ppg, 6.1 rpg, 4.0 apg) are also scoring in double digits.
Rollins poured in a game-high 22 points in Toledo's 75-72 win at Miami on Jan. 11. Millner and Dennis each scored 17 points with Dennis contributing 11.
Miami has lost three of its last four games following Thursday's 83-69 home loss to Central Michigan. Junior Dae Dae Grant leads the RedHawks and ranks sixth in the MAC with 17.3 ppg. Senior Mekhi Lairy ranks second on the team with 14.4 ppg and tops the conference with a 90.4 FT%.
