TOLEDO, Ohio – The University of Toledo men's team will host three non-conference dual matches with UNOH, IUPUI, and Dayton this week.
"We are very excited to host a few big matches back here in the Glass City," head coach
Al Wermer said. "Each of these teams coming in will bring some unique challenges."
The Rockets (3-4) will take the court in a rescheduled match vs. Northwestern Ohio on Wednesday, Feb. 23 at 11:00 a.m. at Launchpad Tennis (5400 Central Ave, Toledo, OH 43615).
This weekend, they will host IUPUI on Friday, Feb. 25 at 1:00 p.m. and Dayton on Sunday, Feb. 27 at 1:00 p.m. at Shadow Valley Tennis Courts.
Last Time on the Court
Toledo swept Marquette 7-0 on Feb. 19, and the next day defeated Illinois State 4-3. The Rockets' No. 3 doubles pair of
Luka Jankovic and
Adam Kovac clinched the doubles team point during both matches to help the final match outcomes. In singles competition, senior
Cole Shoults clinched the match in a three-set victory on the No. 4 court over his Illinois State opponent.
Pawit Sornlaksup's singles wins on the No. 1 courts over Stefan Dragovic (MU) and Nam Pham (ISU) marked his fifth straight win this season.
About Northwestern Ohio
Northwestern Ohio was picked to win the Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference Championship earlier this season and sits at No. 12 in the NAIA national rankings. The Racers (9-2, 2-0 WHAC) opened their conference competition on Feb. 19 and picked up two wins over Lawrence Tech and Lourdes University.
About IUPUI
IUPUI (3-8) recently lost a 6-1 match to Ball State on Feb. 20. The Jaguars got one point from freshman Alex Jochmin the No. 1 singles court, while the No. 4 and No. 6 singles court split before falling in the decisive third set.
About Dayton
Dayton (6-4) had a big 5-2 win over Cleveland State on Sunday, where senior Steven Karl became the 10th Flyer to earn 60 career singles wins. The Flyers dropped the doubles team point, but came back to take five singles courts for the win.
