Toledo and Dayton slated to tip off at 2:00 p.m.
TOLEDO, Ohio – Coming off one of its best wins in program history, the Toledo women's basketball team returns home this weekend to host Dayton on Sunday afternoon. The Rockets (7-2) and Flyers (0-9) will tip off at 2:00 p.m. on ESPN+.
On Thursday night at the Crisler Center in Ann Arbor, Toledo defeated No. 14 Michigan by a score of 71-68. The win over the No. 14-ranked Wolverines was UT's first over a ranked team since beating No. 20 Dayton on Dec. 9, 2009. It's the first ranked win away from home since a win vs. No. 24 Ole Miss on March 16, 1996 in the NCAA Tournament. Thursday's victory also marked the first for the Rockets vs. a Big Ten team since a 69-58 win at Indiana on Nov. 25, 2011.
The Rockets' win was no fluke, as they led for much of the game and held a double-digit lead for a significant chunk of the second and third quarters. Michigan fought back to take the lead with less than two minutes to play, but Khera Goss' and-one with 1:23 to go put Toledo back on top, 67-66.
Michigan's Leigha Brown knocked down a jumper with 20 seconds left to put her team ahead 69-68, but on the Rockets' next possession junior Sammi Mikonowicz corralled the inbounds pass and drove to the hoop for two for what would end up being the game-winning basket. The Wolverines' last shot attempt clanked off the rim and was rebounded by Mikonowicz, who iced the game with two free throws to clinch the historic victory.
Toledo has just two games left in its non-conference schedule. Following Sunday's game vs. Dayton, UT hosts Oakland (4-4) on Wednesday, Dec. 21 at 7:00 p.m.
Through the first month of the season, the Rockets are once again at the top of the MAC and among the national leaders in attendance. UT is averaging 4,296 fans per game, which ranks 23rd in the nation.
Bleacher tickets for Toledo's home games vs. Oakland (Dec. 21), Western Michigan (Jan. 4), and Ball State (Jan. 11) are available for $8.00 in advance and $9.00 at the door. King's only missed free throw attempt was her first of the season, meaning she has made 19 free throws in a row in game action. She ranks second in the MAC in free throw percentage behind Ball State's Ally Becki (25-for-26, 96.2%)
- The Rockets' 61.5 field goal percentage against Missouri State is the 16th-highest in Division I so far this season. There have been just 24 instances where a team shot at least 60% from the floor, 19 of which came against DI competition.

- Over the last four games, Toledo is shooting 51.9% (108-for-208) from the floor and 49.0% (27-for-55) from three-point range.
- Sammi Mikonowicz (45.0%) and Sophia Wiard (40.9%) Â both rank inside the top ten in the MAC in three-point field goal percentage, ranking third and seventh respectively.
- Wiard is approaching 1,000 career points and currently sits at 957. She will become the 32nd member of the 1,000 point club at Toledo.
