MIAMI, Fla. – Senior
Jovana Duric led a group of four Rockets with a time of 1:03:11 in the 5K race of the College Swimming Coaches Association of America (CSCAA ) Open Water Championships on Sunday morning in Biscayne Bay in Miami, Fla. Toledo, the only Mid-American Conference representative, finished 15th overall in a group of 21 teams.
Duric paced the Rockets with a 60-place finish with a time of 1:03:11.7. Nineteen seconds later, senior
Kennedy Lovell crossed the finish line with a time of 1:03:30.7 in 62nd place. Sophomores
Molly Pressler and
Lindsey Creek were not far behind, finishing 74th and 77th, respectively, separated by another 19-second gap.
Ella Dyson from Rice University won the women's race under the hour mark at 58:08.88, and Rice took first in the team standings.
The Rockets will be back in action after the new year, for the UB Diving Invitational on Friday-Sunday, Jan. 13-15 in Buffalo, NY.
