Four Rockets to Compete in CSCAA Open Water Championships on Sunday Morning

TOLEDO, Ohio – Lindsey Creek, Jovana Duric, Kennedy Lovell and Molly Pressler will represent the University of Toledo's women's swimming & diving team at the College Swimming Coaches Association of America (CSCAA) Open Water Championships in Miami, Fla.. The four Rockets will swim the Women's 5K race at 10:30 a.m. in Biscayne Bay on Sunday, Dec. 18.
Last Time Out
Toledo brought home a fourth-place finish at Cleveland State's Magnus Cup Invitational on Nov. 20, where they captured 20 personal-best times and 23 top-10 finishes. Jovana Duric had a third-place finish in the 1650 freestyle, while Lindsey Creek placed eighth with a personal-best time. Kennedy Lovell finished four of five events in the top five including runner-up in the 200 freestyle. Lauren Kilgore achieved four top-five finishes, including runner-up in both the 200 IM and 100 butterfly.
About the Open Water Championships
The event first began in 2016 at Lone State Lake in Lawrence, Kan., but this year's race will be the first time the event is swam at Florida International University. A total of 239 athletes – 141 women and 98 men – will compete in this year's race. The top five finishers for each gender will receive an automatic invitation to the USA Swimming 5K Open Water Championship in April 2023 and the men's and women's team with the lowest score will be crowned champion. The team scores are based on the top three finishes with individual swimmer's place acting as their posts.
