TOLEDO, Ohio - Former Rocket Pinyada Kuvanun qualified for the LPGA's Q-Series Qualifying Tournament on Sunday by tying for ninth place with an even-par 288 at the Plantation Golf and Country Club in Venice, Fla.
Kuvanun fired a six-under par 66 in the third round after shooting an even-par 72 and one-over par 73 in the first two rounds. She shot a five-over 77 in a final round that was plagued by cold, wind and rain and was finished with little daylight remaining.
The LPGA's Q-Series Qualifying Tournament will take place in December at two courses in Alabama. Kuvanun will begin play with a 72-hole tournament at the Magnolia Grove Crossings course in Mobile, AL. The top 70 will advance the following week to play another 72-hole event at Highland Oaks in Dothan, AL.
A Khonkean, Thailand native, Kuvanun holds the school record with a 73.7 career stroke average. She earned first-team All-MAC honors as a junior and senior and second-team All-MAC accolades as a sophomore.
