TOLEDO, Ohio – The No. 25 Toledo women's cross country team will put it all out on the line this Saturday in Stillwater, Okla. when they compete at the 2022 NCAA Cross Championships. The 6K race is scheduled for 9:20 a.m. CT (10:30 ET) at the OSU Cross Country Course.
Toledo earned one of the 13 at-large bids into the championship race following a sixth-place finish at the NCAA Great Lakes Regional meet on Nov. 11. The Rockets were led by sophomore Joy Chirchir and senior Faith Linga, who finished in fifth and 10th-place, respectively, to also earn all-region honors. The duo also finished 2-3 to lead Toledo to its second consecutive Mid-American Conference Championship title on Oct. 29.
This will be Toledo's fifth appearance as a team at the national stage. Sophomore Joy Chirchir represented the Rockets as an individual at last season's race. For head women's coach Andrea Grove-McDonough, this will be her seventh team appearance at the NCAAs but first since 2018 when she was the head coach at Iowa State.
The best finish for the Toledo program at the NCAA Championship meet was 21st in 2011, and best individual finish was 24th by Brianna Shook in 2002.
