10/21/2022 10:30:00 AM

TOLEDO, Ohio – The Toledo men's and women's cross country teams will race one more regular season meet at Wayne State's Warrior Challenge on Saturday, Oct. 22. The No.16-ranked women will run a 6K at 11:00 a.m. and the men will follow with an 8K at 11:45 a.m. at Willow Metropark in New Bern, Mich.

Toledo had a great showing at last weekend's Nuttycombe Wisconsin Invitational. Sophomore Joy Chirchir led the women's team with a 36th-place finish in the Women's 6K Championships race, and the Rockets finished in 12th-place as a team. Sophomore Dennis Mutai paced the men's team with a runner-up finish in the Men's "B" race, and fourth place team finish.

The women's team finished ahead of 13 of the top Division I teams in the country last weekend, which catapulted them in the USTFCCCA regional and national rankings this week. The Rockets moved to No. 16 in the country and No. 3 in the Great Lakes Regional. The national ranking is the second-highest ranking for the Toledo women's team in program history.
