Rockets Heading to Madison for Badger Invitational

TOLEDO, Ohio - The Toledo men's golf team continues a busy opening start to its 2021-22 season when it travels to Madison, Wis. for Wisconsin's Badger Invitational on Sunday-Tuesday, Sept. 26-28. The Rockets will be playing at the par-72, 7,286-yard University Ridge Golf Course.  The 54-hole tournament will utilize 9:00 a.m. tee times on Sunday and Monday and an 8:30 a.m. tee time on Tuesday.

The Field
Toledo is a part of a 14-team field that includes fellow Mid-American Conference members Eastern Michigan and Northern Illinois. Also competing along with the host Badgers are Abilene Christian, Augusta, Cincinnati, Coastal Carolina, High Point, Illinois State, Iowa State, Sam Houston State, South Dakota State and Xavier.

First Time Out
Toledo traveled to the Pacific Northwest earlier this week and tied for 11th place at the Husky Invitational on Sept. 20-21. Sophomores Jamie Tofte Nielsen and Barend Botha led the Rockets with Top 25 finishes. Nielsen tied for 21st place at two-under par 214 (72-73-69) and carded a pair of career-best rounds with an even-par 72 in the first round and a three-under 69 in the final round. Nielsen's performance earned him Mid-American Conference Golfer of the Week honors. Botha fired a pair of rounds in the 60s and finished in 25th place at one-under par 215 (69-78-68).

Newcomers Debut
Graduate transfers Lukas Clark and Max Siegfried both competed for the first time as Rockets. Clark transferred from Penn State and tied for 44th place at 221 (73-73-75), while Siegfried previously attended Villanova and tied for 77th place at 231 (74-81-76).

This Week's Lineup
The Rockets' lineup will include sophomore Barend Botha at No. 1, sophomore Jamie Tofte Nielsen at No. 2, senior Lukas Clark at No. 3, senior David Amm at No. 4 and junior Palmer Yenrick at No. 5. Junior Logan Hooper will be competing as an individual.
