TOLEDO, Ohio – The University of Toledo men's tennis team opens its fall schedule at home with the Rocket Invite this weekend. The Rockets welcome five other teams to the Glass City: Bellarmine, Case Western, Chicago, Kenyon, and Northwestern Ohio.
Competition begins on Friday and continues through the weekend.
"This is a good group of teams coming in, and some which don't see each other often, which always provides some intrigue," head coach Al Wermer said. "Our team has a new feel to it after losing three graduates last spring, adding two new players (Marko Galic and Pawit Sornlaksup), plus recognizing some transformational player efforts since last spring. We're excited to see everyone in real competition."
The weekend will be split between the UT Varsity Tennis Courts and Shadow Valley Tennis Club. Preliminary schedules for the weekend can be found below.
Toledo welcomes back seven players from last year's roster that posted a record of 7-9. Among returning players, junior Krzysztof Wetoszka brings back the most singles victories from last year with 10 and sophomore Wojciech Szczesny is close behind with nine.
