SYLVANIA, Ohio – University of Toledo sophomore Barend Botha shot a four-under par 67 on Tuesday to win the 91st Habitec Toledo Open with a six-under 136. The tournament was played at Highland Meadows Golf Club.

Botha edged out Jake Scott (Strongsville, Ohio) and Blake Sattler (New Philadelphia, Ohio), who tied for second place at five-under par 139.

"It's pretty awesome for Barend to win the whole thing against the field of professionals," Head Coach Jeff Roope said. "He played really well and this will give him a lot of confidence heading into our season."

Senior David Amm (67-73) and sophomore Jamie Nielsen (68-73) also finished under par at two-under 142 and one-under 141 to tie for 13th and 19th place, respectively.

Also competing in the tournament for the Rockets were junior NJ Botha (73-70), sophomore Logan Hooper (72-72), freshman Jamie Butler (72-75), senior Lukas Clark (72-75), junior Palmer Yenrick (76-75) and senior Max Siegfried (79-74).

Toledo opens the fall portion of its 2021-22 season next week when it travels to Bremerton, Wash. for the University of Washington's Husky Invitational.
