Toledo Ties Cincinnati 1-1 for Second Consecutive Draw

CINCINNATI, Ohio - Toledo scored first but had to settle for a 1-1 tie against the Cincinnati Bearcats in Cincinnati on Sunday. The tie was the second in as many games for the Rockets, making them 0-0-2 to start the season.

Senior Ashton Cassel tallied Toledo's first goal of the season, giving the Rockets a 1-0 lead early in the second half. But the Bearcats answered with a goal of their own to tie the score at 1-1 in the 64th minute. Both teams had opportunities to score in the closing minutes of regulation and in overtime, but the defenses prevailed and the contest remained a draw.

Sophomore goaklkeeper Emma Boutorwick logged four saves for the Rockets.

"Our players did a good job dealing with Cincinnati's strong attack," said Head Coach T.J. Buchholz. "Cincinnati has a certain way they like to play and I thought our team navigated their style of play effectively today. Our team had to endure another overtime test on the road and I am proud of how hard they fought for 110 minutes."

Cassel logged her first goal of the season and the fourth of her career with a goal in the second half. She has scored one goal in each of her four seasons with Toledo.
This was the first meeting between Toledo and Cincinnati since 2003. It was the first tie between the two teams.
This is the first time in program history that the Rockets have started a season with two consecutive ties.
Olivia Dault led Toledo with two shots with two, and now has five on the season to lead the team.
